In Larry Bates' authoritative Monetary and Economic Review (June 1998), the editors warn of a growing "pattern of assault on individual freedom and liberty by out of control government entities." The editors especially document the rogue-like abuses of the IRS in its continuous assaults on the citizenry, on Christian churches and ministries, and on patriotic and conservative organizations.
One such assault this year was on the distinguished Dr. Antony Sutton, publisher of The Phoenix Letter, a newsletter devoted to exposing the New World Order conspiracy and corruption in the federal government. The IRS unlawfully and without a court order sought to bully and intimidate Dr. Sutton, who works alone and is 85 years of age. The feds seized his computer and bank account in a crude attempt to silence the strong voice of this highly regarded scholar, formerly a fellow at the conservative Hoover Institutute, Stanford University.
Why did the IRS fraudulently attack Dr. Sutton? In fact, Sutton owed no back taxes. I believe it was the following knowledge, published in Sutton's newspaper and reprinted in this ministry's newsletter recently, that prompted the IRS to come down hard on Dr. Sutton and deny him his First Amendment right to free speech. Dr. Sutton wrote:
|
"Like the Stasi, KGB, and Gestapo, the IRS has secret files on those who criticize the government—not the tax rebels, but those who exercise First Amendment rights. These secret files are neatly cataloged by the Special Services Section of IRS working in the basement of the IRS building in Washington. A dozen agents maintain 11,000 personal files. These files catalog anyone who has publicly criticized the government, not just tax rebels, but ANYONE who has expressed dismay at Washington corruption...
The Special Services Section catalogs those who openly refuse to protect corruption and un-constitutional actions. It is the kind of file kept by all secret police agencies, heavy on newspaper clippings and gossip. The Gestapo and the KGB had similar files." |
Obviously, the establishment thugs decided that the patriotic Dr. Sutton needed a little arm-twisting and muscle-crunching by federal Gestapo agents to make sure he knew what his place is in the radiant, New Age paradise planned for us all by the Clintonistas and their elitist pals.
The brave Dr. Sutton cannot be easily intimidated. But, by attacking such a well-known and respected target, the government hoped to create terror in the hearts of other patriotic citizens. Not only did Sutton expose the dirty little secret of the illegal files being kept by the IRS, he had also published articles exposing the government's Project L.U.C.I.D. plot to force Americans into a national computer I.D. card system. Sutton is also author of America's Secret Establishment, the first book to unmask the good old boys network of the notorious Order of Skull and Bones.
Here, in his own words, Dr. Antony Sutton documents why he was targeted and what occurred:
|
"My Phoenix Letter was reaching too many with a constitutional anti-abuse of power message. So, we were targeted. Although we disapprove of the income tax, this was not the thrust of The Phoenix Letter. Our message has been abuse of power and unconstitutional activity with reckless ignorance of the Constitution. We file returns. In fact, in the last two years we have received refunds from the IRS.
Our sin was to make "waves." So, the "system" had to pull the plug. Even though we overpaid taxes, we had the full levy seizure treatment. Out of the blue, The Phoenix Letter had all its assets levied. Our personal bank account was cleaned out.
We had no warning. This was a levy for allegedly unpaid taxes for 1984 (13 years ago). All the usual notices of delinquency, right of appeal, etc., had been sent to an address in Vincennes, Indiana, while the IRS had our correct address in California. We have never lived in Vincennes, or even visited Vincennes, Indiana, and the IRS refuses to state why they used a phony address. The assault was artificial from start to finish.
We have written scores of letters to the IRS and to Congress. Not one official has faced the key questions. All we get back is silence or a runaround answer. There has been a deliberate, malicious attempt to freeze The Phoenix Letter and make sure it doesn't publish.
There is supposedly an IRS procedure under which a levy is released temporarily while the case is investigated, to allow a business to continue. We requested this release. Answer: silence.
The IRS is supposed to give 21 days notice before levying a bank account. They did not: They came in dead of night and cleaned out the account. So, we had no means to hire an attorney. Our "hit" came simultaneously with a wave of others...We are not alone.
Don't you find it odd that an agency devoted to tax collection knowingly and deliberately kills a source of tax revenue? Why have writers and constitutional groups been selected for IRS assault? Simply because they were getting too close to the truth. Too many were finding out that we have a runaway Big Brother propaganda media, promoting a corrupt system.
Establishment publishers have an interest in maintaining the "system," and they adjust the news accordingly. The system is threatened by news not filtered through establishment sources. The ability to filter news was being threatened by The Phoenix Letter.
Good Luck. God Bless you." |
