The pulpit has become a playground, the sanctuary a stage

“For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:11, “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” For almost forty years Power of Prophecy has done just that. In fact, this ministry has been lambasted and blacklisted by many for daring to shine a light upon the evildoers in Christendom.
Our Pastor Emeritus, the late Texe Marrs, produced two video documentaries, as well as numerous audio programs, exposing the egregious antics perpetrated by so-called men of the faith. Texe was never one to sugar-coat a message that needed to be delivered.
The demographic of supporters for his messages, unsurprisingly, leaned towards “seasoned” (I would never stoop to calling us old) Christians who grew up during a time when preachers delivered sermons that would scare us straight. Old-fashioned principles that we were taught at home were reinforced by the pastor on Sunday.
Outlandish Behavior
In his outstanding book, Pastors and Churches Gone Wild!, Texe exposed a multitude of so-called Christian leaders. Every single one of them will be made to stand in front of Jesus and answer for their teachings. Texe wrote:

“Has the whole Christian establishment been driven insane by satanic compromises and unholy false teachings? In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, the Bible speaks of a time when even professed Christians will not ‘endure sound doctrine.’ Instead, they will heap up for themselves false teachers who ‘will turn their ears from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.’”

Alas, this book did not make the New York Times Bestseller list. However, it has opened the eyes of thousands of lost souls who had questioned if what they were experiencing was “Christian.” Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:2-4:

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

These pastors had forgotten that they were shepherds of His flock. Instead, they chose to trade the fear of God for the favor of man. The late Pastor Charles Spurgeon wrote: “A time will come when instead of shepherds feeding the sheep, the church will have clowns entertaining the goats!”
No matter how many times these clowns are exposed, there are multitudes of people who cannot get enough of the side-show. They are not interested in salvation, only entertainment.
The fads come and go like holy laughter or the naked church. Many churches feel the need to promote worldly things to pack the pews and membership rolls. Likewise, pastors try to be more theatrical instead of true keepers of the flock.
While their popularity is marketable, these so-called Christian leaders feel the need to strike while the iron is hot. Steven Furtick is just the latest in a long line of charlatans who are fleecing their followers.
Caving to the Devil
Sadly, it is leadership like this that is causing many churchgoers to submit to Satan. Recently, Family Research Council surveyed over one thousand monthly churchgoers on their views concerning marriage, family, and moral issues.
While sixty-eight percent support marriage as a union between one man and one woman, fifty-four percent do not define family as a husband, wife, and children. Forty-nine percent claim the Bible is not clear and decisive on the morality of abortion, while fifty-three percent say the Bible isn’t clear about homosexuality.
Still Standing For Israel
While those surveyed were wishy-washy about some issues, they were steadfast in their support for Israel. Eighty-four percent believe consistent prayer of Israel is very important, and seventy-three percent believe Christians should urge the U.S. government to support Israel.
The dispensationalists probably danced a jig when they saw this part of the survey. Their indoctrination of “bless Israel and be blessed” still has a grip on many so-called Christians.
The only heartening piece to take from this survey is it encompassed progressive, liberal churches as well as those who are somewhat conservative.
Moral Compass Adrift
Another study by the Cultural Research Center shows a dramatic shift in the nation’s moral compass. Only forty-three percent of those surveyed believe that sinful behavior stems from a wicked and corrupt heart.
The researchers looked at twelve traditional sins” and found only six are still “regarded as sinful.” Those not viewed as sinful included drinking and gambling.
This research has shown that in today’s anti-Christian world, God’s Word is no longer the authority, it is man’s word. In Judges 21:25 we read:

“In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”

Clowns on Parade
As Texe Marrs revealed in his earth-shattering documentary, The Blind & The Dead (Available on DVD), these charlatans have been leading millions of unwitting people down the
wide path towards destruction. This, along with the liberalization of doctrine being taught in seminaries across this nation, has led to the vanishing moral compass of America.
Instead of pastors preaching of fire and brimstone—now considered an out-of-step, old-fashioned lesson—today they preach of love, self-care, and living your best life now. While they preach their namby-pamby feel good message, sexual perversion and the assault on the family unit is running rampant.
Moreover, preachers like Steve Furtick are laughing while giving some guy a piggy-back ride. Meanwhile the attendees are cheering, clapping, and filming his actions on their phones. This affront to the true gospel of Jesus Christ is sickening and disheartening.
Let us consider the topics that are forbidden to be covered in today’s churches:
The Sermon of Lust: God’s will is clear. He calls us to holiness in our bodies. In 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4:

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;”

Homosexuality: Every form of sexual immorality is a rebellion against Him. In Romans 1:26-27:
|
“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”

Pornography: In Matthew 5:27-28:

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Adultery: In Hebrews 13:4-5:
|
“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have:”

Why are these topics not covered today? Because this is old-fashioned and it’s depressing. Pew-sitters come to be seen and hear uplifting messages. Many prefer soft-shoe topics like struggles or relationships that tickle their ears.
Paul, in 1 Corinthians 6:9 tells us, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind.”
These words are treated as relics of a time passed by. The reverence of God’s Truth no longer inhabits the pastor nor the church. What a woeful thought, a church filled with hungry souls with nothing to feed them.
Battling for the Faith
Likewise, the church of today is aiding in the creation and proliferation of weak men. Instead of summoning men to battle for the faith, they are coddled like adolescents. Paul, in 1 Corinthians 16:13 tells us:

“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”

Men are supposed to stand firm, protect, provide and lead. Is it any wonder that men today would prefer to visit salons and get manicures and pedicures?
Moreover, you will not hear many pastors lament the false gospels that are being preached everywhere. They are not strong enough to call out those who pervert the Word of God.
Instead, you are likely to hear a social justice message which centers on identity politics and not Jesus. Further, you could hear a message that promotes health and wealth over the cross. Possibly the most blasphemous message of all which touts you as a hero and Jesus as your cheerleader.
Once again we turn to the wise counsel of Paul. In Galatians 1:8-9 we read:

A False Gospel
Pulpits across this land are spewing a counterfeit gospel. Instead of preaching truth, pastors, instead, have chosen to give motivational presentations. Paul, in 1 Corinthians 9:16, said, “For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”
We know this world is full of sin. What is heartbreaking is the fact that not enough spirit-filled men are being heard. This silence has led to the waning of faith in this country.
America’s clergy have failed egregiously in tending the flock. However, all is not lost. There are still those who are not afraid put on the full armor of God and speak His Truth. In Ephesians 6:10-12, Paul tells us:

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

It is time for true Christians to come together and join in this spiritual battle. This war shall be waged against sin, erroneous doctrine, and practices that have corrupted the church. In 2 Timothy 2:1-4 we read:

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

The church could once again be a powerful weapon for integrity and honesty. There are impostors in the church of God. Are they foreordained for condemnation? Do they have a choice? Yes, they do. They must renounce all of false doctrines they were taught. They can declare that henceforth they will believe in the truth of Jesus Christ and his gospel.
