“Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher, all is vanity... For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”

Ecclesiastes 12:8, 14

“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

James 4:14

President Donald J. Trump is determined to be remembered. He’s the greatest businessman ever—just ask him. As a real estate tycoon, it is surely his prerogative to name every venture he’s personally embarked on after himself. His civilian legacy includes too-numerous-to-list Trump Towers, buildings, condos, apartments, hotels, golf courses, and casinos around the world with more planned.

To continue the overview of Trump’s naming legacy we also have: Trump TV shows, films and documentaries. There are games bearing his name along with magazines, books, restaurants, food and beverages, a winery, fragrances, menswear... the list goes on extensively. There is even a 436-acre state park in New York created on Trump’s donation of land which is named—you guessed it—The Donald J. Trump State Park. There have been numerous efforts, although failed, to rename the park.

As President

Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his belief that he is one of the best presidents in U.S. history. He has stated that he wants to be remembered alongside George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, who are often ranked as the top two presidents. Trump has shown frustration when ranked lower than them, indicating his desire to be recognized as the best.

So far during Trump’s two presidential terms, he seeks evermore to carve his name upon American and world history. Trump is so determined to be remembered that he is building monuments to himself.

The Donald J. Trump Ballroom: He has knocked down the east wing of the White house to build a 90,000-square-foot ballroom that will be decorated with golden/gilt trimmings as is his style.

Arc de Trump a.k.a. Independence Arch or Memorial Arch: The arch is purported to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. Proposed by Donald Trump in 2025 it would be located on Columbia Island in Washington, D.C. The scale of the arch grew to an unwieldy 250-foot-tall. The project is currently stalled by a lawsuit arguing the project had not received proper approval.

The Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts now has Trump’s name added to the beginning of the title. Trump dismissed the Kennedy Center’s board of trustees and appointed new members, who elected him chairman and voted to add his name to the center. He will also shutter the center for a two-year remodel. Want to guess what the décor will look like?

The United States Institute of Peace, as formed by Ronald Reagan, has had most employees and leadership dismissed. In its stead, Trump has renamed the nearly empty building the Donald J. Trump U.S. Institute of Peace. He has inserted his name on the building, and now convenes his new Board of Peace in the building. By the way, Trump has named himself chairman-for-life of the Board of Peace.

Donald J. Trump International Airport—A Trump related company is seeking to rename Palm Beach International Airport, the closest to Mar-A-Lago, for President Trump.

Fort Trump—a new military base in Poland. It is said that Poland was trying to flatter Trump with the suggested name. The once hyped project, begun during Trump’s first term, has stalled. These are but a few instances.

Is Israel’s love for Trump simply delusions of grandeur?

Trump’s Name in Israel

Netanyahu and Israel understand very well how to manipulate President Trump and feed his ego (including all of the donor money), thus ensuring cooperation for their own plans. Up until recently they have dangled small golden carrots before him.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat announced that a traffic circle adjacent to Jerusalem’s new U.S. embassy will be named in honor of the President. The name change never happened. Trump Station in Jerusalem—A proposed train station near the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. As of this writing it is still just promises; Trump Heights in the Golan Heights, a planned Israeli settlement, named in honor of Trump’s recognition of the Golan Heights as part of Israel. As of December 2024, Trump Heights was home to about 26 families, living in “makeshift homes and caravans.”

Now, as a reward for standing with Israel in obilterating Gaza, in September 2025, a new headline reads, “Netanyahu Breaks Ground on Central Israel Beachfront ‘Trump Promenade,’ Citing the Gaza Riviera Plan.” AI pictures abound with Trump’s golden likeness dangled like a gleaming carrot for money to rebuild Gaza. I wonder what new monument was offered to Trump for leading the attack on Iran.

For the places Trump’s name has been added in Israel, do you think Trump’s name will stand after he leaves office? Mayor of Petah Tikvah, Rami Greenberg, publicly gushed “It is only fitting to name a major square after him for being the first to acknowledge Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel.” However, the square was renamed during the Biden Administration to “U. S. Square.” I’m fairly confident Israel will not be the only one in the renaming game when Trump leaves office.

Trump’s Detractors Have Gotten in on the Monument and Naming Game

California Governor Gavin Newsom, on X/Twitter, mock-proposed naming the Vallejo Rest Stop and Relief Station for President Trump. The tweet was accompanied by a picture depicting how the sign would look in gold color, reflecting the President’s decorating style.

New mocking golden statues are being raised on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. of President Trump. One shows President Trump and Jeffrey Epstein skipping, holding hands as great friends; another depicts Trump and Epstein in the “King of the World” stance famous in the movie, Titanic. Other satirical Trump statues also abound across the country.

Will History Remember Trump Kindly?

Many U.S. presidents have been honored with monuments and statues, but they do not typically build them for themselves. Instead, these memorials are created by others to honor their legacies. Is President Trump afraid that people will have little they want to memorialize about him?

The human ego is a powerful force. It can push people to succeed, but it can also lead to inflated pride, selfishness and a lack of humility. The Bible warns against pride more than almost any other sin. Proverbs 16:18 states, “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Pride blinds individuals to their weaknesses and isolates them from wise counsel.

We know it takes a great boldness and confidence to lead the a greatest nation. President Trump’s self-memorializing reminds me that King Saul did the same thing. So enamoured of himself, not only did King Saul take spoils as he was warned not to do, but he set up a monument, not for God, but for himself in Carmel, taking credit for God’s victory (1 Samuel 15:12). This was the beginning of the end for King Saul.
