From Isaiah to Today, God’s Truth Cannot Be Changed
|
“That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits”

Those who wish to be “gods on earth” know no bounds. As in the time of Isaiah, the lawless did not want to be told truth. It is amazing that earthly people still have not changed in thousands of years. They choose to rationalize a situation to best suit their heart’s desire.
Many forge a new standard upon waking each morning, forgetting the path they have trod. That which benefits them today is of utmost importance. Is it not amazing that what was written in the Old Testament still occurs today? We read in Psalms 50:16-17:

“But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.”

With the abundance of lukewarm pastors and parishioners, the Word of God had been replaced with a watered-down doctrine. Joel Osteen best exemplifies this Laodicean attitude. In a 2012 interview with New-Ager Oprah Winfrey, Osteen explained that since no one is totally free of sin, he believes gays will be accepted into heaven. In a 2014 interview with Larry King, Osteen said, “We’re not against anybody. There’s a lot of things, that I don’t understand, so I just don’t want to preach on it, preach about it.”
Sadly, many of today’s “Christian” leaders never teach the Book of Revelation. In Revelation 3:14-17 we read:

“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”

With the rapid decline of attendees in Christian churches, there should be no surprise when society feeds hate upon each other. Long gone are tolerance and understanding. These have been replaced with vile and disgusting accusations.
With the advent of the world wide web, the Internet, tools were readily at hand for the alleged betterment of mankind. As with any tool, it can be used for good or for evil. In Greek mythology, Epimetheus had in his possession a jar for safe-keeping. Upon Pandora’s opening of this jar, unspecified evils escaped into the world. Pandora immediately placed the lid on the jar, but in so doing left only hope to remain behind.
Evildoers will utilize all tools at their disposal, and the Internet is no exception. With ever-growing popularity, the tools of our destruction were crafted. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, et al, were created in an innocuous way to invite participation of the masses. Touted as a way to keep in touch with long-lost friends, family members scattered about the country, or to just boast of one’s accomplishments, social media was a robust success.
As more and more people migrated towards social media, it quickly became apparent to those who seek to disrupt society and mold it into their personal utopia, this format was the perfect vehicle. Cultural Marxism, also known as Political Correctness, was the birthplace of this misguided mindset. Moreover, with the socialist takeover of public education and universities complete, a new movement was born—“Social Justice.”
Self-proclaimed “Social Justice Warriors” began using this platform to implement change and inflict harm upon individuals who did not agree. Societal norms were moved leftward, and those who did not adjust properly became targets.
New terms were created to expose and ridicule the feeble “old-fashioned” mindset. “Woke” became the rallying cry for those who had become awakened to the injustices inflicted upon society, mainly perpetrated by “old, dead, white guys”—Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln, etc.
“Cancel Culture” is the latest term to be foisted upon society. Those who are deemed to have offended the sensibilities of the “woke,” must be canceled as if they are in a river full of piranhas, feasting on the carcass of the offender. To the PC Gestapo, no amount of remorse will be acceptable.
The recent death of George Floyd has sparked civil unrest around the country. Black Lives Matter protests morphed into riots where property was destroyed, businesses were robbed, and police became targets. Anyone who dared to speak out against this abhorrent behavior made the list to be “canceled.”
Here are but a few of those who have been forced out:
• James Bennet was the editor of the editorial page for the New York Times. Mr. Bennet published an op-ed by Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) who called for U.S. military to quell the “orgy of violence” in American cities. Irate staffers demanded action leading to Mr. Bennet’s forced resignation.
• The top editor for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Stan Wischnowski, was forced to resign after publishing a headline stating, “Buildings Matter, Too.”
• Canadian TV personality, Jessica Mulroney, was accused by a blogger of exhibiting “white privilege,” and thus had her show canceled.
• Founder and owner of The Phantom Gourmet, Dave Andelman, was forced to resign after mocking anti-police protests. Mr. Andelman suggested Boston retailers offer “touchless, curbside looting.”
• Benji Backer had a speaking engagement canceled because he had tweeted about a link to COVID-19 and China.
• Tiffany Riley, a Vermont public school principal was ousted after she posted on social media, “I do not think that people should be made to feel they have to choose black race over human race.”

James Bennet, Dave Andelman, and Tiffany Riley have all been targeted by the Cancel Culture. Free Speech doesn’t apply to them. Will they give in, bow to their new masters and apologize?

These are but a few of the victims of Cancel Culture. If one were so inclined, they could spend hours upon hours documenting every ridiculous example. Do these “cancellations” not provoke thought towards what occurred in Bolshevik Russia?
Truth Is a Powerful Weapon
Tolerance for one another has disappeared. No longer are we able to coexist with those whom we disagree. Sadly, the words of the Apostle Paul cannot assuage the “woke” mob.

“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith... I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be... For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Galatians 5:4-14).

Today, Laodicean pastors are promoting a cheap grace, one that cannot set sinners free from sin because there is no repentance. By the grace of God, true believers are transformed. The Apostle John tells us: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth... For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:14-17).
Jesus told the Jews who believed on him that if they continued in His Word, they would be His disciples. Jesus said: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). We, as His disciples, must continue to shine the light of truth upon our communities. For in doing this duty, we have got it made!
