Buffetted About From All Sides

“O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Saviour,
And life more abundant and free!”

first verse of hymn by Helen H. Lemmel, 1922

We live in a world filled with relentless assaults of more and more crises—battering us from every side. The list seems ever expanding.

Weather Many of you have called with great concern and prayer for us at the ministry because you’e heard about the floods in the Texas Hill Country. Numerous lives and much property were lost in our multi-county area, but we are safe. The hardest hit area is about 2 hours due west of us hitting the Christian girls’ camp, 4th of July vacationers, and some residents, washed away by the storms. Close to the same time around the U.S. were many other areas of 1 in a 1,000-year floods. Of course, there have also been wildfires of recent memory. Is this is due to weather modification? In South Central Texas a cloud seeding mission was admittedly performed by the company Rainmaker two days before the floods. But they adamantly claim this seeding didn’t affect the weather on the 4th.

Continued conflict in the Middle East The historical cycle has been ongoing for so very long. It won’t stop until “from the river to the sea” is accomplished at any cost. Will it even stop then? One of the most soul-unsettling parts of this is the cold disconnect from the lives that are just as precious to Jesus as yours and mine. Where is the testimony and witness of God in this?

Jeffrey Epstein It’ like a light switch was flipped. After all the grandstanding for the truth to come out by our current administration, President Trump dismissed the question regarding the Epstein list saying, “Are we still talking about that? It’s old news. Our country is doing so great!” Instantly, the plight of all the underage girls who have been victimized is swept under the rug. And the pedophiles? They get off scot-free. We know the list includes people on both sides of the aisle and around the world. But it’s time to move on we are told.

Artificial Intelligence Now it’s accessible to anyone. If you can turn a computer on, you too, can create fake content—you barely need any imagination. There is now so much fakery online that it’s very difficult to discern what’s real; from news events such as a fake story of rescue in the Texas floods of two sisters, to the hottest new musical group, Velvet Sunset. It’s fake. Remember: the AI advancements will be akin to the computer advancement of old: garbage in, garbage out.

The Wildly Swinging Political Pendulum The weaponization of politics, both “progressive” and “conservative.” The ever-widening chasm gives us radicals on both sides and no true Constitutional statesman to lead. Egos-R-Us—where is the godly wisdom?

Cultural Marxism Radical progressivism subverting the values of family and national identity as well as traditions in moral values, education, and intellect.

Apathy and Disrespect for Life Violence is at an all-time high. Unborn or born; young or old; family, friend or stranger—no life is of value, but is subject to instant, unremorseful dismissal.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

“And He withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.” (Luke 5:16 )

That dull ache of fatigue, the sense of disconnection—I think you, like me, are sometimes wearied and overwhelmed from the buffeting by the world. Overwhelm is not a sign of weakness. It means that we are in need of a refreshing.

Tuning out the chaos and noise of the world is not easy. But do not forget to tune in to the voice that calms storms, to His presence that brings peace, to the Saviour who knows you by name.

Jesus sought a quiet place and refuge in His Father. If you are weary and feeling buffeted on all sides take heart, you are not alone. Jesus is not standing on the sidelines. He steps into your exhaustion, your confusion, and whispers, “Come to me. Rest.”

In the quiet, may you hear the voice of Jesus calling you to rest, to trust, and to begin again—refreshed, renewed, and rooted in His unshakeable love.

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.”

Chorus of hymn by Helen H. Lemmel, 1922
