Michael Hopf, in his novel Those Who Remain wrote: “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”
American history personifies this statement. From its inception, our founding fathers lived through the hard times under King George. Their strength propelled them to write the Declaration of Independence and strike out for a democratic republic.
Throughout our nation’s history we have suffered through tough times and come out on the other side a much stronger country. Sadly, this author believes that the good times we have been blessed with has created weak men, and we are headed for hard times.

The Great Depression yielded tough-minded individuals.

Recall the bleakness of the “Great Depression” of the 1930s, the dust bowl era, and the strength of character that many men displayed in bringing our nation back to full strength. Some historians will have you believe it was the policies of Franklin D. Roosevelt that led to our resurgence—forgetting the fact that these so-called leaders ushered in socialist doctrines.
The men of this era were tough-minded individuals. Many refused the handouts offered through Roosevelt’s socialist “jobs” programs. These men put the burden of restoring our nation on their backs and pushed forward.
Half-Wits in Positions of Power
As the title for this article suggests, we are a nation of “halfs.” Our political leaders—local, state, and federal—deem themselves the all-knowing and thus all-powerful potentates who are to rule over us. Many of these politicians have neglected to remember what the Preamble of the Constitution states:

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Moreover, many of the citizens of this country have failed to realize the gravity with which we have a responsibility to uphold. This question has been posed many times wherein this author has asked, “How many politicians would you trust to babysit your children?” More times than not, the replies have been maybe one or two.
This begs the following question then: why do we keep putting these people in office? How many dim-wits would you care to work for, let alone with? More and more Americans have started asking why these so-called leaders have not been able to balance the budget for this nation?
The obvious answer is POWER! This has become an inherent problem with politicians on both sides of the aisle. Many of these so-called statesmen have never owned or run a business, managed a payroll, paid bills, and felt the struggle of small business owners across this nation of trying to keep the doors open.
The Blind Leading the Blind
Instead, they come from the prestigious halls of academia, where theory holds more weight than facts. Likewise, the professors educating our future leaders have secured their fiefdoms with tenured positions, without having experienced real world problems.
It is extremely possible that the good times our current crop of politicians have lived through has made them weak. In turn, this weakness will lead us all into a period of hard times.
After suffering through the scamdemic lock downs—on a local and national level—as well as mandates forcing the common folks to get a jab that was neither effective or healthy, those with a strong backbone started to push back.
Unfortunately, the sycophants that have received indoctrination through education and controlled media will continue to support these half-wits in office. Some, feeling a sense of superiority over their neighbors, may be inclined to throw their hat in the ring for upcoming local elections.
Going Halfway Should Not Be An Option
Growing up, my brothers and I were taught that if you were going to do a job, you should do it to completion. Half-steps were not an option. We were also taught to take pride in doing a job well.
Today’s society, where good is good enough, is another reflection on good times making weak men. We seem to have forgotten the fact that doing anything halfway only yields marginal benefits.
In Deuteronomy 8:17-18, Moses explains that the blessings given unto us are from God:

“And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth...”

How quickly man forgets these things. It seems to be human nature to feel that success is from single-mindedness of purpose. Hubris denies the innate fact that it comes from God.
In Hebrews 6:9-12, it reaffirms that it is due diligence from which we receive our blessings from God:

“But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

Likewise, Christ had no use for those who only went halfway. In Revelation 3:15-16 we read:

Stand and Be Counted for God
It should not come as a shock to those with eyes to see and ears to hear. Our nation has become perverted in many facets of life wherein it is okay to be mediocre. We continually accept our elected leaders for doing just enough to get by.
Likewise, we continue to watch and financially award lukewarm pastors who spew messages of love, happiness, and joy without giving out the requirements put forth in His Holy Word. Did not Paul teach the Ephesian elders the whole truth of God?

“For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood” (Acts 20:27-28).
|
It is high time that strong men come to the fore, lest this nation become an effeminate, weak, and addle-brained group of lost souls. The signs are all about us, but what are we to do about it? It is imperative that the blood-bought, born again believers right the path of this nation.
